Dry Needling is a technique using thin filament needles the size of a hair or Acupuncture needle, to stimulate the healing process of soft tissue such as muscle and fascia.
The treatment does not have to be painful, although at times if the soft tissue is sensitive, shortened or has trigger points within it, there may be a sensation like a muscle cramp, which is referred to as the "twitch" response.
The result of dry needling is pain relief, decreased spasms/ trigger points, and increased motion.
I have several patients fall asleep during the treatment, and have much relief post treatment. Quite a few patients remark that they have had the best night's sleep after the treatment than they have had in a long time.
